Ilé Ochossi presents

Ejeife

Bringing balance.

Ejeife is the divination sign meaning perfect balance in the Obi system of the Lucumí, represented by two white sides of coconut up and two dark sides up. Peace, balance, and blessings reign in Ejeife, which recalls the word ife, love. Our ilé has created this website to provide information on Lucumí for those seeking it.

Lucumí, also known as Regla de Ocha or Santería, is an African Diasporic religion that developed in Cuba during the trans-Atlantic slave trade in the 19th Century. From its roots in the beliefs of the Yoruba people of present-day Nigeria, the religion has spread wherever Cubans have gone, and can now be found all over the Americas, Europe, and even as far away as Japan. Lucumí is a nature-based tradition that uses plants, animals, songs, and dance for the veneration of ancestors, the worship of Orisha, and the development of our character so that we reach our destiny.
